What's better than summer evenings relaxing at the lake with friends? A summer evening relaxing at the lake with friends and live music. Mark the dates for the Green Lake Concerts in the Park series on your calendar. The concerts are held Wednesday evenings starting June 14 and ending August 16. They take place on the Starlight Stage at Deacon Mills Park, and admission for the entire series is free for the whole family. Each concert starts at 6:30 p.m. and lasts about two hours.

Refreshments are available in the park, with the proceeds going to support future concerts. You can also grab dinner, an ice cream cone, and other classic summer treats at several local businesses nearby.

Bring your lawn chairs or a blanket, or get comfortable at one of the picnic tables or benches. Then just sit back and savor the music while the breeze blows off the lake. You may find yourself tapping your feet, singing along, or even dancing.

There's something in the series for all ages and for a wide range of musical tastes. Over the course of the summer, you'll hear jazz, country, rock, polka, and more. For many concertgoers, the highlight is Family Picnic Night on July 12, featuring the University of Wisconsin–Madison Marching Band. Once you've experienced their rousing performance, you'll understand why many families look forward to this special evening year after year.
