Cookie Daze

It’s a hands-on celebration with something for kids of all ages. This year's Ripon Cookie Daze festivities take place on Saturday, August 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Barlow Park, off County Road E in southern Ripon.

Ripon has been called one of the “Coolest Small Towns in America,” and Cookie Daze is a fabulous way to experience that with the whole family. The youngest members of the family will love having their picture taken with Cookie Monster, and can participate in the cookie hunt.

For ages 3 to 12, the highlight is definitely the series of Cookie Drops, when thousands of individually wrapped Rippin’ Good Cookies are suspended high above the crowd by a fire truck crane. As the cookies drop from the sky and hit the ground, children scurry to collect as many as they can. Several of the packages are labeled prizewinner, and can be redeemed for small prizes. Each Cookie Drop also has a grand-prize winning cookie that can be redeemed for a new bike. There are several different Cookie Drops throughout the event for different age groups so everyone gets a chance to participate.

There's also cookie decorating and a chance to sample the community cookie-baking contest entries. Each year, the contest has a different theme, so there's always a new twist on favorite recipes along with new recipes you've never tasted before.

It’s more than just cookies. There's a bounce house, a huge activity tent full of free make-and-take crafts, and a food and beverage tent with lunch available at very reasonable prices. And don't miss the rocket shop and launchpad, where you can make and launch your own rocket using recycled materials.
