Ripon’s Dickens of a Christmas weekend will celebrate its 27th anniversary December 1 through 3. The weekend holiday kickoff offers a variety of events to provide countless memories and lay the foundation for new family traditions. It also offers opportunities for all ages, including the Dickens of a Quilt Show, Enchanted Forest, Christmas Crèche Display, Gingerbread House Contest, Dress A Doll Contest, and great shopping and dining experiences.

Enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride through downtown Ripon as the skyline shines with thousands of twinkling lights over the busyness of one of Wisconsin’s most iconic holiday weekends. The highlight of the Dickens weekend happens during Living Windows, when downtown shops and storefronts come alive to tell the story of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. See your favorite characters, like Fezziwig, Tiny Tim, ghostly apparitions, and Ebenezer Scrooge himself as community groups and organizations portray the scenes through historic Downtown Ripon. Visit with Victorian era guests, sing along with carolers, and perhaps even dine on a roasted chestnut.

Santa Claus is always an important part of the Dickens of a Christmas weekend with numerous stops during the event. Saturday morning features Breakfast with Santa, where kids, young and old, can tell Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick their wish list items. It also features a variety of holiday craft shows, a chance to meet live reindeer, and opportunities to tour homes during the Dickens of a Christmas Tour of Homes. The Tour of Homes showcases homes from many different decades and centuries as you get a look inside some of the most uniquely designed and exquisitely decorated homes around Ripon.

Dickens of a Christmas also offers the chance to enjoy the unique shopping and dining opportunities available in Ripon. Explore the one-of-a-kind shops and great local eateries that give guests the best experience ever. From locally made wine and beers to delectable dishes with global palates, whatever your style or your taste, Ripon makes your holiday amazing, enjoyable, and stress free.

The holidays are about family, and Ripon’s Dickens of a Christmas provides the chance to create family traditions and memorable experiences that can continue for generations. Come spend some time in Ripon during Dickens of a Christmas and throughout the year, and learn to love Ripon.
