There’s nothing quite like discovering the magic of the holidays with a multiday Christmas festival! Step into a winter wonderland of activities as Ripon hosts its 28th annual Dickens of a Christmas celebration from Friday, December 7, to Sunday, December 9.
Each night brings something special to the overall festivities. Families can enjoy Fezziwig’s Festival on Friday evening. This annual festival features a winter ice carnival where young ones get the opportunity to visit with Santa, everyone can witness the spectacular ice sculptures, families can take a horse and carriage ride downtown, and you can even test your skills with the fruitcake toss.
Moving into Saturday, be sure to start your morning out right with Breakfast with Santa as well as the 2018 Tour of Homes—showcasing unique architecture and holiday décor of several historical homes.
Perhaps the largest highlight of attending Dickens of a Christmas is seeing the holidays come to life with the Dickens of a Christmas Living Windows display. Attendees can head downtown and view holiday scenes coming alive right in storefront windows. The event also features holiday music, food, drinks, and even an invite encouraging you to dress in your favorite Victorian/Dickensian costumes.
A few other key activities sure to put you in the Christmas spirit throughout the weekend include the Dickens of a Quilt Show at Horicon Bank, the Enchanted Forest, a gingerbread house contest, a performance by the Ripon College Orchestra on Sunday afternoon, the Christmas Crèche display at Grace Lutheran Church, the Dress a Doll contest, and a variety of craft fairs and other holiday shopping.
